Well, today started out with a bang. My daughter woke me up at 5:30 AM for what I call the Morning Of Terror. For three hours she’s hungry, replay the channel, her diaper this and other kid stuff. Then she finally goes to sleep at about 8:00. I wanted to get up and work but I was so drowsy. I finally peeled my grouchy self up at 11:00. I wanted a full force day but I was exhausted and hungry.
I had stayed up late the night before trying to complete the study sheet for my big license exam on Monday. I have got to pass this test because first of all it’s been five years. Second, I have all outdated materials so I hope 80 percent of it stayed the same. I know they didn’t go changing the nerves on the face on me. So part of my day was spent finishing that and testing myself. Then I got sick of that and started doing the house work, well a little.
Another miracle, I made dinner. All this may seem easy to everyone else. But for a gravity challenged person like myself who has 26 days left to give birth, anything I accomplish is worth talking about.
Anyway, the first order of business was to open up my account at CafePress. I should of did it yesterday, but I still don’t know what my budget is. So I decided to opt in for the free account. I am working with a “prove yourself” mentality so hopefully that works out.
I spent hours trying to figure how to upload images. I know how to do it, it’s just that I didn’t have any images to work with. Nothing I have in Microsoft can convert. I just want to add text. Once I win that battle, I will be on my way.
For now my only lead is to convert files with a free program. Once I download that, I’ll be able to play around with the many downloads I’ve done. I got Adobe Photoshop, I think. So if and when I figure it out I will be able to add text and logos to my online store.
I needed a name when opening up the store. After brainstorming, I came up with
BigBellyMommy.com.
I checked the domain names and no one was using it. I’m glad to find a name I can live with and hopefully it will catch on. Hopefully, I can get the website up in a few days.
I have to work on what I am going to do in terms of marketing. A lot of day one was spent looking for an Adwords coupon. Maybe I’ll put the expense on a card and try to make that money back before the bill is due. My goal is really not to use any of my own money for this project. With a new baby on the way, who can blame me? I know that having a bigger budget or one at all would make things easier and faster but those are the rules. If I could keep everything under $50 and come out with a profit what a story that would make.
My true goal is to show all of the women at home that they can run their home, their family, their business and make money in their spare time while learning some invaluable skills. I am a hard worker and I know that I have what it takes to meet this challenge. I love challenges but this seems to be the big one.
Anyway, (speaking of business). I am a partner with my mom in opening up a daycare in our Philadelphia neighborhood. I have been up and down trying to open the daycare for months. Because of the lack of proper information, it took us longer than usual. We also had to learn the tough lesson of starting small first, then growing on to bigger things. So that is another thing to add to the “Before the baby is born” list.
We women sure are multitaskers. But one thing is for sure. The girls are going to grandma’s house so some real work can get done.

Well a lot of people have started their businesses on less. A popular term is to call it "bootstrapping". Some people when they don't have a lot of money to start with will use one of the free webhosting sites that will let you add adsense ads to your site.
Even though I do a lot of research involving grants it is advised for people to start their businesses - even their daycare businesses - small and then slowly grow.
You can read more info that I have on daycares at my daycare page
